Maggi for me was more than just a name, more than mere product, more than just noodles, more than a snack... for us it was our best friend in the kitchen. It is that food which can be transformed into Breakfast, Lunch, Brunch and Dinner. I still remember the college days where Maggi used to be our Lunch, our Chakhna with Beer and in some cases our Dinner too. We can question a roadside hotel for the hygiene and quality of food, but we can't question a roadside "Thela" who is serving Maggi with Tea and Cold drinks. We were so damn sure about the quality of  Maggi that sometimes we ate it in its raw state. What more a company like Nestle can demand in terms of Customers Loyalty, we poured our Heart to Maggi and Nestle but they stabbed us in the back in return.

Nestle, an MNC which claims "Partnership for a healthier tomorrow", found guilty when the flagship product for them and the "Meri Maggi" for all of us was found positive for excessive Lead contents. Which means the snack which we all were eating since childhood was Poisonous and unhealthy for us. Is this how Nestle is Partnering for a Healthy Future??  Excess Lead intake is toxic to many organs and tissues including the heart, bones, intestines, kidneys and reproductive nervous system (Source: Wikipedia). In other words Nestle was poisoning us from Childhood just to sell its product deceptively. You must have remembered the Cadbury issue , where worms were found into Cadbury samples. So my question to MNC's like Nestle and Cadbury is why such sort of Quality issues arises ? Is selling crap on name of a flagship brand is a justification with consumers Loyality? Is profitability has nothing to do with qualitative production? Consumers health is nothing ??

Being a fitness freak I always check what I am consuming,  therefore I always check the nutritional value of any product before buying it. But this issue of Maggi has raised a very simple yet complex question i.e should I believe the nutritional chart on the pack?? What if all the information provided is just deceptive. What if the information mentioned was only meant for getting the FDA nod for the product.

A lot of people are saying that banning Maggi alone will not solve the purpose, the brand ambassadors should also be punished for not verifying the product before promoting it. I think the brand ambassadors are people like you and me and they don't have the knowledge and resources to test a product for Lead and Monosodium glutamate. I guess that nutritional values described or disclosed by Nestle to them were not the actual nutritional value. If the Government is planning to ban something then it should be Nestle. The Govt. should ban Maggi by immediate effect and should cancel Nestle's license for production of Maggi in India. This kind of bold step will be a benchmark for future. Also, it will force manufacturing Co's to maintain the standards when it comes to packaged foods. We should also appreciate the efforts of UPFDA, who bought this issue in limelight. In my view, this sort of efforts should be carried out on a regular basis so that common people like me can rely on the quality of food offered by these Co's.

So what's Next for Nestle's Nest?

In my view, Nestle will do a Cadbury here. They will be silent for some days and then the turnaround strategy will be formulated. The best marketing teams in the business will be hired, everything from packing to brand ambassadors, from advertisement to pricing will be changed. The product will be relaunched again in the market just like Cadbury did when issues of worms were reported in its chocolates. Now, this can be my way of thinking, but the track record of FMCG Co's is like this only.

So, in the end, I will only say that "Meri Maggi" is a big no for me now because Nestle betrayed me. I can assure one thing that whatever Nestle will be doing in coming days, it will not restore my faith in Maggi. I can never forgive Nestle for such inhuman act of emotional betrayal.

As Mr. William Blake once said-

"It is easier to forgive an enemy than to forgive a Friend"

And Maggi WAS a Friend once.
